I’m a big cottage cheese fan. The point is that lately I’ve experienced recipes that are more and more delicious. One of them is this banana split, but not the classic one that we all know that has ice cream, but with cottage cheese.
I do not know how many of you have guessed, but on this blog I will try to reinterpret classic recipes and make them in a healthier way. Well, replacing the ice cream with cottage cheese is a big plus. Ice cream is full of sugar, while a low fat cottage cheese is very healthy because it has a low caloric intake, it’s an excellent source of protein, contains calcium and many other minerals.
Regarding today’s recipe, I can not say I invented it myself. Before I was eating it in other way: I simply put cottage cheese in a bowl and add the remaining ingredients on top. But because I like ,,to play” in the kitchen, I thought to reinterpret it. Here’s what came out!

INGREDIENTS (for 1 serving)
1 large banana
2-3 tablespoons of Light Cottage Cheese from Delaco.
a few pieces of walnuts
1 handful of berries (for garnish)
1 handful of berries (for sauce) * Optional

PREPARATION
Nothing complicated: Cut banana in half and put it on a plate. Above the two halves put 2-3 tablespoons of cottage cheese, then decorate with berries and nuts.
For berry sauce you need: a handful of berries, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2-3 tablespoons of water. Put all ingredients in a saucepan and leave them to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens. Berry sauce is optional, you can put instead 2 teaspoons of honey.
I like to eat this banana split at breakfast because it gives me energy to start the day, but it certainly can be eaten as a dessert. I say that you can amaze anyone with this recipe, it’s very simple to make and does not take more than 5 minutes.
