Caprese Salad – the easiest salad

The most complicated salad of all the salads. Neeeeh, I’m joking! Caprese Salad is the simplest and effortless salad that anyone can make it. You only need 3 ingredients and that’s it, the salad is good to eat.

After it’s name we can tell that this is an italian salad, where it is very popular. This salad that can be served as an appetizer, as a snack, as a breakfast or even for a light lunch or dinner. You know, we all have that moments when we are not hungry but we still need to eat something to survive. Do I even have to tell you that it’s really tasty? Mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and basil, a combination of very aromatic flavors, perfect for this warm season, especially if you don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

And I hope you did noticed that in the plate we actually have the colors of the Italian flag: red, white and green 🙂
300 gr. mozzarella
2 tomatoes
1-2 cloves of garlic
1 handful of fresh basil
3 tablespoons olive oil

Cut the mozzarella and tomatoes in slices and place them on a plate, alternating them. A slice of mozzarella, then a slice of tomato and so on until there is no slice of these two ingredients left.

For the sauce you need a handful of basil that you have to put in a blender, together with 1 clove of garlic, 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil. Blend everything until becomes a paste. If you still need liquid, you can add extra olive oil. I also poured this paste through the sieve so it remained a fine and very aromatic sauce/dressing.

Put this sauce over mozzarella and tomatoes and serve immediately.
