<Weekend, friday night, you want to see a movie with your friends (at home or at the cinema). A good movie goes hand in hand with some snacks. You go to the store (or to the cinema shop) and buy chips, popcorn and something to drink. Clasic.>
What I’ve described above is a situation where I’m sure you can find yourself, in which I admit that I found myself sometime. What if I tell you that there are healthier alternatives to those roasted, salted and full of other flavors chips? The alternative is to make at home some oven baked sweet potato chips, super tasty and healthy, which you can fully enjoy yourself or with your friends at a movie or even at a meeting where you gather together.
Now, honestly I tell you, God will punish me if I would say that there are moments where I eat some unhealthy snacks, like pretzels when I’m watching my favorite movies or serials, but I try as much as possible to choose healthier and simple ones such as sweet potato chips, hummus, cottage cheese or sometimes 2-3 carrots, I cut them into smaller pieces and I turn myself into a rabbit. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Try some oven baked sweet potato chips, maybe you can give up on those ones from the supermarket!
2 sweet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
Spices: salt, pepper, sweet paprika (you can add others according to your preferences)
Cut the sweet potatoes into round slices as thin as possible. Put them in a bowl with cold water for 10-15 minutes, then place them on a clean kitchen towel (or kitchen napkins) and dry them well.
Put the dry potatoes slices in a bowl, add the spice mix, plus a spoonful of olive oil and mix well. Put them in a baking sheet lined with parchment papper and bake them in the oven (180°C), for about 25-30 minutes. Turn them from on one side to the other halfway through.
This time I preferred this chips softer, but if you want them more crunchy, then lower the temperature to 120°C and leave the chips in the oven for 1 hour – 1 hour half, turning then from one side to the other halfway through.
Leave the sweet potatoes to cool completely, then eat them without regrets.
