Smoothie bowl with greek yogurt

Smoothie bowl is what I really like to eat in the morning at breakfast. Ok, I admit that when I want to eat something sweet, I make this kind of smoothie bowl instead of a dessert. If you ask me, yes, it can also be a healthy dessert.

I am not sure how many of you know, but currently I am in the USA with a program for students, called Work & Travel. Today, July 4th, the americans celebrate the Independece Day, so I decided to make a smoothie bowl, which I decorate it with the colors of the American flag: white, red and blue. For blue, I chose blackcurrants, because I didn’t have another fruit that matches this color. For americans, this holiday it means a lot, they begin to decorate their homes, even their cars and bicycles in the colors of the flag many days before. I can’t wait to go to the beach and see the fireworks. I’ll have a dreamlike view: ocean ahead, the sound of the waves, the beach and the fireworks show.

Returning to today’s recipe, I can say that I often make this kind of smoothie because it is very good and is full of beneficial nutrients for the body because of the ingredients I used. For this smoothie I used blackcurrants and strawberries that are full of antioxidants, the banana and yogurt helps to get that creamy texture, but Greek yogurt also has a fairly high amount of protein, which is a big plus. It’s a perfect smoothie to start your day. About its taste I can only tell you that it’s extraordinarily good and I enjoyed it with every teaspoon.

Let’s see the recipe
1 medium ripe banana
100 gr. frozen blackcurrants
5-6 strawberries
3 tablespoons of Olympus Greek yogurt 2%
1 teaspoon of coconut flakes
Optional: 1 teaspoon of chia seeds

For this smoothie you only need a blender in which you have to put all the ingredients listed above, with the mention that you shoud put first the yogurt in the blender, then mix for a few seconds until the composition has a creamy texture.

If you still need more liquid, you can add 2-3 tablespoons of yogurt or milk.
