Wedges or fried potatoes? What would you choose?
Potato wedges are so good that you’ll give up on the classic fries and you’ll be crazy about these ones. Pinky promise!
Potatoes wedges are a much healthier version of fried potatoes because they don’t require a lot of oil or no oil in their preparation and that’s because they are baked in the oven. I know for sure that many of you have a weakness for fried potatoes, no one is denies that they are not delicious, but think about this: they are fried in an oil bath, so they are more caloric, but in general all fried food produce carcinogenic substances called acrylamides. This is harmful to our body, especially if we have the habit of eating fried foods very often (in long term it can lead to diseases such as gastritis, ulcers or even cancer).
It’s been many years since I last ate fried potatoes and now instead of fried potatoes I chose oven baked potatoes wedges, which are less harmful. Baking certain foods in the ovens is a better choice for our body because this cooking technique doesn’t involve the use of so much oil, but only 1-2 tablespoons or no oil at all. Remember that there are healthy alternatives to anything, you just have to be aware of some mistakes and to improve them along the way.
Coming back to our recipe, I have to tell you that these oven baked potato wedges are very tasty, they are not full of oil and they can be eaten with a salad or even simple. I like to eat them simple, with greek yogurt and garlic sauce, but also with a spicy tomato sauce.
These potato wedges look extraordinarily tasty, they are soft on the inside and a little crunchy on the outside.
Here’s the recipe!

PREPARATION
Wash very well the potatoes so their peel is clean. You don’t have to peel the potatoes for this recipe. Cut the potatos in half, then each half into 2-3 halves. Put the potato wedges in a bowl with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and all the spices (salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, dried rosemary – all to taste) and mix well with your hands.
In a tray lined with parchment paper arrange each wedges, leaving a small space between them. Put the tray in the preheated oven at 180°C for 30-35 minutes, turning them from side to side halfway through. Coking time may vary depending on the power of each oven.
When they are baked and have a beautiful crust, you can take them out of the oven and serve them with tomato sauce with basil or greek yogurt sauce with garlic (like I ate them). You can also serve them next to a salad.
Enjoy!
Nicoleta 🙂
